Talent, unwavering dedication and a hunger for new creative achievement have brought Jon Rundell long-term success.
2016 brought key releases, notably his thunderous remix of Josh Wink’s seminal hit ‘Talking To You’, and ‘Mind’ on Intec, a weighty contender as a top track of the year and a staple in the sets of some of techno’s finest.

His DJ sets are fluid and fast-paced; he reads a room, and allows himself to go with his own mood and what feels right. Nevertheless, whether it’s uncompromising techno or the deeper end of house, there will always be that signature groove.

His back catalogue is an impressive list of stellar releases, including the stratospheric hit ‘Knick Knack’, ‘Raven’ (both on Intec, the latter championed by the likes of Dave Clarke, Luke Slater and Ben Sims), his remix of Moby’s ‘Walk With Me’ (Little Idiot), and rework of Devilfish ‘ManAlive’ (Bush Records). Rundell has also been running record labels for a decade, most notably joining Carl Cox’s Intec in 2006. His years there also involved curating label showcases worldwide.

Despite his impressive house and techno credentials, Rundell, a proudly self-professed mod, is refreshingly varied in his likes and influences, befitting one whose love affair with music began with his Dad’s Kinks and Rolling Stones LPs, and Public Enemy on Top of the Pops. Other musical influences he lists as Ice Cube, Dr Dre, The Jam, Oasis, Kasabian, Tony De Vit, Andy C, Kenny Ken, Fabio & Grooverider, Goldie, The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, Carl Cox, Jeff Mills, Dave Clarke, Ben Sims, Josh Wink… and he still loves and listens to Old Skool, Jungle, Drum n Bass and US hip hop, as well as house and techno.

From his bedroom belt drive turntables, to his first tentative gig at a student party, phased by a pair of 1210s, to small bar sessions around 1999/2000, his first big break was a party in an MOT Test Centre somewhere on the outskirts of London. Rundell has steadily built his following and his skill and has now played alongside such luminaries as Laurent Garnier, Carl Cox, Ben Sims, Luke Slater, Danny Tenaglia, Joseph Capriati, Pan-Pot and Dubfire. His calendar is a collection of major festivals and iconic clubs; from Fabric London, Space Ibiza (one of the few artists to have played in every room at the club over the 12 years he was a regular guest), Output (NYC), Zig Zag (Paris), Kristal Glam (RO), to Sunwaves (RO), Awakenings, Glastonbury, BPM, Ultra Miami, and regular stints in South America.

Rundell doesn’t follow trends, adhering to his own beliefs and interests both on and off the dancefloor. As a prominent spokesperson, from publicly voicing his opinions and showing his support for Fabric after their recent temporary closure, to various panel appearances at Amsterdam Dance Event and Brighton Music Conference, Rundell speaks his mind.
