nrilis continues its Rilis series with a two-track raw and jackin’ techno EP by XQTE. XQTE is a new alias from Vinz Exe, who is an Italian artist known for his music on record labels such as Emmanuel’s ARTS, A.Paul’s Naked Lunch, Florian Meindl’s FLASH and Planet Rhythm. His style combines fast-paced percussion with analogue synth bursts and rhythmic vocal stabs. Prior to this release, XQTE had worked exclusively with the Attitude label, but he is a great fit for the Rilis series, which was founded by Rino Cerrone before his retirement from the music industry. Rino Cerrone launched Rilis over two decades ago as an experimental outlet for his highly-influential techno tracks, and in 2023 the project was relaunched with a focus on artists who share his musical sentiments. Since it’s relaunch, Rilis has featured tracks by the likes of A.Paul, DJ Dextro, Ritzi Lee and Samuel L Session. “Belém” opens the release with a hardgroove track, analogue machine funk and tribal percussion, augmented by upbeat vocal snippets and deep synth chords. “Manaus” has gritty percussion and industrial stabs sequenced into a hypnotic groove underpinned by the ferocious energy of a rumbling low-end.
