Obsessed with the constant flow of state sees Nabil Hayat present his next EP titled Magnetic. The EP’s concept which or why certain elements attract the listener and or the writer and these magnetic forces that come into play. Such forces one could define as internal or spiritual. The ‘Magnetic’ EP introduces 4 new tracks that sees his style combine classic elements intertwined with more forward thinking ones. Never wanting to use the same approach for each release. Although a similar aesthetic remains with his style he continues to zoom through unparalleled universes without any signs of slowing down. The Ep opens with The self titled track ‘Magnetic’ which sets a dark and moody scene. The percussion and syncopated claps along with resonating atmospheres lurk in the background while constant noises, complex textures and layers come and go throughout until the breakdown halfway when the track gets going again. Next is Serge which dives deep and is reminiscent to classic 4 to the floor style with its groove orientated baseline and percussion. The track’s main synth line being the piano melody and some synth stabs scattered across incorporating clever use of dreamy FX to set the tone for this uplifting track. Followed by Patch bay where the foundations are the use of rhythm elements to create a more driving track with a resonant stab melody, rolling snares and claps. The EP slows down and closes with The Tunnel which sounds familiar to dub techno enthusiasts and uses sounds to create dark industrial elements thumping kick drum all drenched and coated in a pleasant amount of reverb as you would imagine from a dub influenced track. Sharp hi hats also drive the track along with its typical techno stab and the traditional 101 bass that makes a short appearance mid way.
